Innovision Launches Chimo® P13, Ushering in Single-Chip Polychromatic Microdisplays

Innovision Technology, a silicon-based Micro-LED solution provider, has officially unveiled the Chimo® P13–a monolithic polychromatic microdisplay that brings multi-color capability to a single chip. By enabling multi-color display on a single chip, the P13 effectively addresses the pain points of monochrome solutions—insufficient information hierarchy, poor alert visibility, and degraded readability in complex scenarios. The launch not only fills the industry gap for single-chip polychromatic silicon-based Micro-LED microdisplays but also marks a key milestone in Innovision’s product roadmap.

Built on existing high-volume drive backplanes and the proprietary WLVSP® (Wafer-Level Vertical Stacked Pixel, VSP) technology, the Chimo® P13 features a 0.13‑inch display with a 4 μm sub-pixel pitch. It supports customer-configurable resolutions of 640×240, 320×480, or 320×240, and delivers a red‑green color scheme. The device maintains identical physical dimensions and Pin definitions to existing 0.13‑inch monochrome microdisplays, ensuring maximum compatibility with current AR eyewear hardware platforms and unlocking their full interactive potential.
In performance, the P13 achieves a red peak EQE of 5% and delivers approximately 3 lm yellow-light output at 25% APL. The module and interface are customizable to meet diverse customer needs. The companion optical engine, Chimo® P13E, comes in a 0.15 cc footprint and is fully compatible with existing 0.15 cc monochrome engines, enabling seamless integration into AR frames.
On the application front, conventional monochrome displays output a single color, making it difficult for users to quickly prioritize information in multi‑stream scenarios such as navigation, real‑time teleprompting, stock tickers, and schedule alerts—where text, icons, and warnings all appear in the same hue. The P13’s stacked red‑green poly‑color solution solves this: green renders routine content like navigation routes, teleprompt text, and baseline market data, while red highlights critical cues such as route deviations, risk alerts, abnormal stock movements, and urgent calendar events, delivering instant visual prioritization. Moreover, mixing red and green produces yellow, further aligning with everyday visual habits.

The Chimo® P13 fills a longstanding gap in the microdisplay industry between monochrome (insufficient information expression) and full‑color solutions (which incur significant penalties in power, size, and cost). Innovision precisely targets this middle ground with a single‑chip polychromatic approach, enabling color‑based information layering without sacrificing miniaturization or power efficiency. This is not merely a parametric step forward but a transformative leap in user experience—from mere “illumination” to true “distinguishability.”
The Chimo® P13 is now in small‑volume production, with deep collaborations underway with multiple downstream partners. Innovision remains committed to advancing silicon‑based Micro‑LED microdisplay and optical communication technologies, continuously enriching its product portfolio, and accelerating the high‑volume deployment of high‑performance solutions. The company will keep empowering near‑eye display, digital lighting, and optical communications, while fostering open B‑end strategic partnerships and collaborative innovation across the supply chain to drive holistic upgrades in microdisplay and optical communication solutions.
